Golf Week 2009
Another year which saw the Western Isles benefit from the effects of Global Warming! Once again the course, though suffering from sun burn only days before Golf Week, was presented immaculately following some timely rain the week before.
The Western Isles Open Mens Qualifying rounds were yet again played on a day of sunshine, though the course was playing hard and fast with a stiff breeze culminating in one of the toughest days in recent years. We almost had a rain free week excepting the tropical deluge that hit Stornoway early Thursday afternoon as the flooded 2nd and 17th greens show. The rain left the course in perfect condition for the Finals on the Friday and the One Day Open on the Saturday, and we witnessed one of the best Scratch finals in recent times between Dave Black and the eventual Western Isles Open Champion Colin Macritchie.
