Western Isles Golf Clubs Links
Whether you arrive in the Western Isles in Stornoway or on Barra, you will rarely encouter a golfing challenge such as the 'Western Isles Swing'. Whether you play the six courses upwards or downwards along the 130 mile archipelago you won't have played such a variety of courses under such a variety of conditions with such breathtaking scenery as you will in the Western Isles of Scotland.
Use the links below to visit the websites of the other courses and clubs in the Western Isles.
Harris Golf Club - 9-hole links course with breathtaking views set on the south west side of the Isle of Harris.
Sollas Golf Course - 9-hole links course with Atlantic views set on the west side of the Isle of North Uist.
Benbecula Golf Club - 9-hole flat grassland course set on the middle island of the Uists - Benbecula.
Askernish Golf Club - Re-discovered Tom Morris course re-established on scenic machair on the Isle of South Uist.
Barra Golf Club - The ‘Most Westerly’ 9-hole course on the Isle of Barra.
Lewis Links
Here are some of our favourite websites from the Isle of Lewis:
Places to visit
Calanais Visitor Centre - A must see for any visitor to the outer hebrides. These standing stones date back some 5000 years.
Doune Carloway Broch - Another must see for visitors is this stone broch near Carloway on the west side of Lewis.
Gearrannan Black Houses - On the exposed Atlantic coast of the Isle of Lewis the blackhouse village of Gearrannan lies steeped in history and sited in an environment of outstanding natural beauty.
Ness Heritage Centre - This centre is a must to visit if you are interested in good quality local information about the past. The centre contains an impressive archive of documents, genealogical records, photographs, video and audio recordings.
Eoropie Tearoom - An excellent tearoom to enjoy some refreshments after visiting the Ness Heritage Centre. Excellent website including real-time weather. If it’s Force 9 in Eoropie, it’s probably only Force 8 at the club.
Borgh Pottery - Borgh Pottery is a studio pottery established in 1974 by Alex and Sue Blair, and is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 6.00pm.
Oiseval Gallery - Oiseval Gallery, established by landscape photographer James Smith and his wife in 1992, is open all year and is located in the peaceful crofting village of Brue on the wild Atlantic coast of Lewis
Local Accomodation
The Golf Club highly recommends the following places to stay:
Cabarfeidh Hotel - Closest hotel to the 1st tee.
Hebridean Guest House - Closest guest house to the 1st tee.
Crowberry Guest House - Just 10 minutes from the club set in an idillic location overlooking Broad Bay.
